Exploring High-Performance Envelope Retrofits

Recognizing that dramatic space heating savings are not only possible but potentially required across over a million homes in Minnesota, this project seeks to understand the barriers and opportunities for pursuing high-performance envelope projects according to stakeholders involved in their implementation. A model was developed to study the requirements for achieving 50% space heating savings from existing building stock and to analyze the costs and benefits as a function of underlying building characteristics and envelope measure packages.
