The Center for Energy and Environment is currently seeking a qualified
candidate to work in the following position:
Research Technician - Energy Efficiency and Indoor Air Quality
Job Description
The Center for Energy and Environment’s Research and Indoor
Air Quality group seeks a technician to assist research staff with
instrumentation, data collection, data reduction and analysis for
a variety of research projects. This position offers an excellent
opportunity to contribute to meaningful energy and IAQ research in
a friendly and informal environment.
Responsibilities
The technician will:
- Install and remove computerized data acquisition systems in
participants’ homes
or businesses,
- Download and process data,
- Manually collect and enter other data
such as building characteristics and spot diagnostic measurements,
- Carefully
document project work,
- Maintain instrumentation,
- Analyze and present data as directed
by research staff,
- Conduct preliminary data analysis and presentation
- Conduct other
technical work based on technician capabilities and interests
and organizational needs.
- Occasionally assist non-research staff
with various projects.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry,
or closely related technical field.
- Training or experience with
measurements and computerized data acquisition.
- Demonstrated analytical
ability.
- Strong facility with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with or aptitude
for Visual Basic or C++.
- Self motivated, responsible, efficient
and accurate.
- Able to complete complex, repetitive tasks with
a low error rate.
- Trade skills such as low voltage wiring, plumbing,
carpentry etc. needed for applied research work
preferred.
- Comfortable interacting with project participants ranging from
homeowners to renters to building operators
to facilities managers.
- Previous technical work experience preferred.
- Open and adaptable
to many different types of tasks.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must have vehicle for local field work.
Compensation
- Annual compensation dependent on education/training, work
experience and abilities. This is a full time position that provides
a wide range of benefits including Paid Time Off (PTO), medical,
dental and life insurance and long term disability insurance
as well as a profit sharing retirement plan.

co-author credit in published research.

with onsite showers.
Working Hours
Typically 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday, with some
flexibility required to accommodate field work.
