The Center for Energy and Environment is currently hiring for the following positions.
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) is seeking a talented, energetic and enthusiastic senior engineer to join our research team. CEE is a nonprofit organization that promotes energy efficiency to strengthen the economy while improving the environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Identify promising technologies and system strategies to reduce energy use while preserving or enhancing indoor environments in commercial/institutional, industrial or residential facilities.
- Secure funding to conduct applied research and/or demonstration projects that will quantify real world energy savings and costs, identify factors affecting savings and costs, and assess non-energy performance attributes.
- Serve as principal investigator on these projects.
- Coordinate work of other researchers, research technicians, analysts and/or interns assisting with these projects.
- Participate in research projects led by others.
- Provide technical input into CEE’s energy programs and policy work.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to generate research funding.
- Successful experience as principal investigator on field research and/or demonstration projects in energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy, and/or indoor environmental quality.
- MS or PhD in engineering or other scientific field strongly preferred.
- Five or more years’ experience.

The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual who has extensive web application development experience. This is a full time position and the applicant will be expected to work on site.
Primary Responsibilities
Web Application Development:
- Work with staff to define requirements and system design.
- Work with other developers to design software and data structures that meet requirements and fit into the existing application environment.
- Develop software components and data structures to meet requirements.
- Coordinate testing of new and modified software and data structures.
- Create new processes, technologies and practices to facilitate the effective and timely implementation of software projects.
Support existing software applications:
- Respond to user questions and resolve issues that surface during the operation of custom software applications.
- Provide training on custom software applications for users.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree preferred.
- Object Oriented PHP programming experience and knowledge.
- Relational Database design and development skills.
- Web design using HTML, CSS and image files.
- Experience in programming client side functionality with object-oriented Javascript and jQuery.
- Familiarity with (or ability to quickly gain familiarity with) the Kohana PHP Framework.
- Ability to work with staff to participate in requirements definition.
- Experience in creating web services is a plus.
- Experience with HTML5 and development of mobile web applications is also a plus.

Residential Energy Efficiency Program Operations Manager
The Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) is seeking a detail orientated, highly motivated Residential Energy Efficiency Program Operations Manager to join our residential team. CEE is a nonprofit organization that promotes energy efficiency to strengthen the economy while improving the environment. This is a full-time position that occasionally requires working evening and weekend hours.
Primary Responsibilities
Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
- Responsible for meeting overall program performance targets, including meeting budget goals, annual production levels, energy savings goals, and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Manage a multi-functional project team comprised of marketing specialists, technical experts, IT staff, administrative staff, and the field staff manager, to accomplish program objectives. The Operations Manager will have several direct reports as well as project-based reports.
- Develop and maintain policy, process and procedure manual for residential operations, in conjunction with project staff.
- Develop detailed workplan, develop tools to track progress of workplan, and ensure implementation of workplan in conjunction with residential project team.
- Manage budgets and resources to maximize efficiency and impact.
- Prepare reports on program impact.
- Contribute to improved program design, including identification, analysis and selection of appropriate energy-efficiency measures.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement methods
- Maintain excellent relationships and ensure contract compliance with utility and other program partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in residential energy efficiency or related field
- At least 4 years experience in management or project management
- Effective communication (written, verbal and over the phone), interpersonal and coaching skills
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to synthesize multiple sets of data, prepare trend, qualitative and related analysis to make data driven recommendations and decisions
- Strong organization and time management skills and the ability to prioritize
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel
