How It Works

1. Attend a free energy presentation

Attend a free, no-obligation presentation to learn how Community Energy Services can help you save energy and money.  Our energy experts will show you simple techniques that will keep your family comfortable while reducing utility costs.  You can either attend a presentation in your neighborhood (we always provide free childcare, coffee and cookies!) OR an online version of the presentation at your leisure.

Once you have attended either a neighborhood presentation or the online version, you qualify to receive a Home Energy Visit*.

2. Get a home energy visit for a reduced price

Our Home Energy Visit is a scheduled, ninety-minute inspection of your home for a nominal fee of $40.  When you have a Community Energy Services Home Energy Visit, you receive up to $400 in energy-saving services and materials.

During the visit our professionals will:

• Run diagnostic tests on your home’s mechanical infrastructure, including a blower door test to measure your home for air leaks, to find your biggest opportunities to save energy and lower your utility bills
• Install energy-saving materials to improve your home’s efficiency immediately.
• Set up your personalized CES Home Energy Snapshot so you can compare your new energy efficiency against the previous twelve months, as well as against similar-sized homes in the CES program.

Our crews will install energy-saving materials based on your home's energy opportunities.  Those materials may include:

• Programmable thermostats
• Specialty compact fluorescent light bulbs (a-line, bathroom globe and indoor floodlight)
• High-efficiency water fixtures
• Pipe wrap for water heater supply lines

3. Get help making energy-saving home improvements

If your CES Home Energy Visit crew uncovers an opportunity for significant savings through larger home improvement projects, we can make these larger steps easier.  We can connect you with our vetted list of qualified insulation and air sealing contractors, help you apply for utility rebates and find the right low-interest financing for your family.
